Ok, few people would look at this and wish they had that much stuff in such a small space. But hey, I'm very happy that the machinery is in, working and tuned. This week-end, I'll use this fine piece of Sapele (African Mahogany) to baptise the equipment.
Well, I have the same table saw, the RIDGID. I have drawn out the makings of a workbench but have too many projects on the go, to even start building the table. It looks good on paper though! Love your "Man Cave" but I though a man cave was a rec room just for guys, but now I guess it is one full of his TOOLS. I'd better rethink mine then! I figured tools belong in the Garage, and the basement would be the "Man Cave"
ReplyDeleteWith all those fine tools what was the next woodworking thing you built, after the work bench?
There's nothing wrong with having too many tools, just as long as they all get used. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you could do with a bench or stand for your pillar drill - there's another excuse to make some sawdust. :-)
What is your dust extraction setup? It doesn't look like you currently have a plumbed-in system flowing around the 'shop. Must be portable units?
Olly.
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a TV person. In fact, I started woodworking for getting away from from screens (laptops mostly). So no, my cave has got nothing to do with electronic entertainment. ;)
I'm working on these small shelves at the moment (those on the workbench), they are mean to be used on some computer desks that I made as first project. I'm getting started on milling some Sapele and birch for a small sized loom for my wife, which will be a real fun project to do: all with wooden gears and mechanism.
Ha. You are right on the money for a bunch of points. Yes, the drill press is in dire need of a stand with a mobile base. I underestimated the portability of a "benchtop" drill press when I bought it.
ReplyDeleteAs for dust extraction, the short story is that we'll be buying a house next year, with either a double garage or a full sized room dedicated to woodworking in the coming month. Nothing can fit in the single garage at the moment, so my dust extraction setup is called "Mr. Shopvac" at the end of each day. There are some nice-sized systems at a decent price that I'll consider when I know the layout of the new shop.
